Personal

What am I doing when I’m not engineering?

Introduction

Hello! I’m Gabriel Caram, a 20-year-old Mechatronics Engineering student born on March 12, 2004. While my academic and professional pursuits keep me busy, I believe in maintaining a balanced life filled with diverse interests and activities.

Hobbies and Interests

Video Games

As a true digital native, I have a passion for video games. They’re not just entertainment; they’re a way to unwind, challenge myself, and sometimes even inspire creative problem-solving skills that I apply in my engineering studies.

Cooking

I love spending time in the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes and perfecting old favorites. Cooking is my way of being creative outside of the lab and a great way to de-stress after a long day of studies.

Socializing

I enjoy going out to parties and social events. It’s a great way to unwind, meet new people, and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Music

  • Drummer: I play the drums in a band, which has been an excellent outlet for creativity and a great way to develop teamwork skills outside of my academic environment.

Sports

  • Volleyball Player: I actively play volleyball, which helps me stay fit and teaches valuable lessons about teamwork and strategy that I often apply to my engineering projects.

Theater

I’ve been an active member of a theater group, which has significantly contributed to my personal growth:

  • Performed a play for an orphanage, demonstrating my commitment to community engagement and empathy.
  • Won a national award for a biographical play about Clara Nunes, showcasing my creative side and ability to work in a team towards a common goal.

My beloved animals:

I’m a proud pet owner and love spending time with my animal companions:

  • Baby: My playful and affectionate cat who keeps me company during late-night study sessions.
  • Maki: My energetic dog who ensures I take regular breaks for walks and playtime.

These two are not just pets; they’re an integral part of my life, helping me relax and bringing joy to my daily routine.

Community Engagement

I believe in giving back to the community and have participated in various volunteer activities:

  • Painted a nursing home as part of a community service project, demonstrating social responsibility and leadership.
  • Performed theater for underprivileged children, using art as a means of social impact.

Academic Achievements

While my primary focus is on Mechatronics Engineering, I’ve also excelled in other academic areas:

  • Silver and Bronze medals in the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad (OBMEP)
  • Gold medal in the Canguru Mathematics Competition

These achievements reflect my passion for learning and problem-solving, which extends beyond my chosen field of study.

When I’m not immersed in my studies, research, or work, you’ll likely find me gaming, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, hanging out with friends, performing on stage, or simply enjoying quality time with Baby and Maki. Life is all about balance, and I strive to make the most of every moment, both in and out of the world of engineering.
